About
Hi, my name is Will.
I’m a user experience architect in Chicago with extensive experience in B2C and B2B ecommerce, online consumer credit and financial services, commercial real estate financing, and online automotive advertising and research. willhacker.net is where I write about user experience design, mobile technology, social media, and other topics — and how they can be leveraged to make the world an easier and more interesting place to navigate through.
I believe that UX design is not about software, products, or websites, it’s about solving people’s problems and providing them with enriching experiences.
I currently work as an Interaction Designer for mobile web at Cars.com, a top-tier online destination for vehicle shoppers and sellers, and am a graduate student in DePaul University’s Master of Science in Human Computer Interaction program.
My professional experience includes responsibility for site design and usability for both a major online retailer and a nationwide consumer credit information business. I previously served as Section 508 and WAI subject matter expert for Fortune 500 B2C and B2B ecommerce websites. Prior to immersing myself in UX design, I worked in web application development in J2EE environments and did front-end development using standards-based XHTML/CSS/JS coding.
When I’m not working I pursue my passions of art, music, food, wine, and travel.
My resume is over here.
